Moling Services (Trenchless Technology)
What is a mole & how does it work ?
A mole is a soil displacement hammer which is safely controlled by the engineer that launches it from one small excavation point on the property allowing the mole to punch its way through the ground to the next excavation point which is approx. 10-15m away, once travelling through the ground the soil is compacted outwards to create a smooth bore hole which allows the water pipes to be installed quickly, without an unsightly trench.
How many holes will need to be excavated ?
This depends on the length of pipe we are installing and obstacles that are in the way such as well established trees, drains, gas and electric services we may need to cross. We always aim to keep excavations to a minimum at all times but precaution and safety is always the priority for our engineers and customers.
Is moling expensive ?
Moling is a very cost effective way of installing new water supply pipes or other services under lawns, hedges, driveways, roads and is as much as quarter of the price of open cut trenching, a lot less disruptive and even up to 4 times faster meaning we can complete most new supplies in just one day.
All we need to no is the distance in meters from the external boundary of your property to the internal stop tap and your external surface finish’s (tarmac, concrete, grass etc).
